6. Ear lobe stretching

Ear stretching is an ancient practice. Tutankhamen had stretched earlobes, as shown by his likeness in his inner coffin – and so did Buddha, as statues and images of him from India, Tibet, Thailand and Indonesia reveal. Today, it’s found in Northern India, Burma, and African tribes in and around what is now Kenya. Ivory ear plugs are worn by African Samburu warriors, whereas the Masai and Pokot wear many rings in stretched ear lobes, the Rikbaktsa in Brazil stretch their earlobes to take huge discs
