This squid has the Latin name of Vampyroteuthis infernalis meaning, vampire squid from Hell, a bit unfair given the only things he shares with Count Drac are the black, cloak-like webbing and sinister colour.
It lurks in the Midnight Zone, where there is only three percent oxygen, and by lowering its metabolic rate, the squid is the only celphalopod that can function normally down here. Given the need to conserve energy in such an oxygen-free place and unequipped with ink sacks, defence-wise it needs to be imaginative.
When it's under attach the little charmer squirts a great cloud of bioluminescent snot and, while the opponent is blinking in the glowing gloop, the squid from hell scarpers off into the blackness.
