3. Missile Silo Home, USA
Ed Peden’s 42 tonne garage door can literally withstand a nuclear blast. The vehicle that used to be parked behind it was an Atlas E intercontinental ballistic missile tipped with a four-megaton warhead.
Peden’s home is an abandoned $4 million missile bunker, which he bagged for a cool $40,000. Off the humungous launch bay is the former launch control centre now converted into a huge kitchen, offices, laundry room, bathrooms and the old diesel generator room has become a massive music pad. Aside from running educational tours of his gaff Peden has also set up a flourishing real estate firm specializing in converting missile silos.
