It's like weird Anyone home?
4. The Chameleon House, USA
This stonking, five-storey tower overlooking Lake Michigan actually blends into the surrounding landscape by way of a reflective corrugated steel outer skin wrapped in a second skin of corrugated translucent acrylic slats. Cleverly the double skin combined with an interior central skylight nixes the need for mechanical air-conditioning.
In summer a heated air envelope around the house moves upward drawing in cool air and in winter warm air is pulled in through open windows. As it’s on a slope, the owners enter the 148 m2 home at the third level. Amazingly, thanks to prefabricated materials the whole thing took less than eight weeks to build.
