The little lizard can scale vertical and even inverted surfaces, run upside down on polished glass, and hold up its entire body weight with only a single finger. How? By using millions of micro adhesive foot-hairs on each toe. Each foot-hair - seta - splits into 1000 even tinier tips effectively making the gecko naturally adhesive and incredibly strong: a million setae, which would have more than enough space on a 1p coin could lift the weight of a 20 kilo child. But how do you move if your feet stick like superglue? Easy - by leaning at a certain angle your foot peels off like a Post-it note.
