4. The Crooked House Sopot, Poland

 

The three-storey Crooked House (Krzywy Domek as they say in Poland) was created by Polish architect Szotynscy Zaleski and inspired by the illustrations of Jan Marcin Szancer and the work of Swedish artist Per Dahlberg. Built in 2004 the ‘house’ is actually 4,000m2 of shops, restaurants and bars in downtown Sopot. Slumped between more upright buildings on Monte Cassino Street, Zaleski’s idea was to make it look like it belonged there but was just too knackered to stand up
