3. Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Spain
In the early 1990s Canadian architect Frank Gehry was given the commission of a lifetime; to create a stunning new museum for the Guggenheim Foundation that would turn the city of Bilbao into a sparkling hub of culture. Given that the first Guggenheim Museum in New York was designed by genius architect Frank Lloyd Wright and that Bilbao was a dingy dump, Gehry had his work cut out. But he pulled it off in spectacular style, pioneering the use of CATIA, until then the design tool of aircraft and car manufacturers
