5. Dust bowl

Apparently Roger Hiorn’s, piece of artwork, made using an atomised passenger jet engine, taps into our fear of flying and of technology. Atomised metal also makes the silvery flecks in metallic paint and is used in rocket fuel. The metal is heated to between 1,400°C and 1,500°C until it reaches liquid form. It is then dropped through a funnel and sprayed with a fine stream of water or gas, which breaks it into granules. As they fall, the particles cool and form a powder
