3. The teeth of the dead - Waterloo

When the Battle of Waterloo was over, 50,000 young men lay dead in the fields. It was then that the false-teeth business hit the big time. A second army went out armed with pliers and collected the dead men's gnashers. Before dentists were able to use artificial materials, they found that the only effective substitute for lost teeth was, more teeth.
They took the plundered teeth and put them into dentures made of ivory, bone or sliver. But the false teeth decayed quite quickly making bad breath rampant in the jaws of the sweet-toothed upper classes.
