2. Leaf me alone - leaf-tailed gecko
The leaf-tailed gecko specialises in looking like leaves rotting on the floor of its home in the jungle of Madagascar. Things don’t get much better from the front but you don’t usually get to see a gaping gecko with its eyes bulging out unless you’re prey. Most of the time, the leaf disguise works really well keeping it camouflaged from predators. Despite its ugliness, the leaf-tailed gecko is popular with collectors. The gecko is now on the World Wildlife Fund’s top 10 species threatened by illegal animal trading
