Britain doesn’t go in for pig racing much – the RSPCA reckons the noise of the crowd is cruelty enough, but authorities take a different attitude in other countries. The annual agriculture show in Melbourne, Australia wouldn’t be complete without the pig racing and diving event where younger porkers run, dive and swim around an assault course.

Juvenile pigs racing around a sandy oval track at county shows and events is a regular feature of American life, and the Russians are getting hot on it too; farmers are said to be breeding long-legged racing pigs Watch it
