It's like, weird Races
4. Sopelana nudist race Spain
There’s a lot more on show than bums in the annual five-kilometre run held on Sopelana Beach. Last year over 130 runners of all ages, let it all hang out, to compete in the nude race, wearing just running shoes. Hats and sunglasses are also permitted. But it isn’t so new, Sparta is thought to be where the custom of exercising naked originated and in 520BC, the Armed Race was introduced at Olympia where competitors carried just a shield and wore a helmet. It’s unlikely though that the 2012 Olympic committee will re-introduce the event, which is a shame.
