7. Robo bug

Scientists at John Hopkins University in the US have been studying butterflies to try and work out how they  manage to flutter with such agility and grace. They hope the research will lead to the development of airborne bug robots, like this one. Known as micro aerial vehicles, or MAVs, these could carry out crucial work in the fields of search and rescue, environmental monitoring and surveillance.
