7. When killer plants attack
A carnivorous pitcher plant has captured and killed a bird for what’s thought to be only the second time ever. Although they’re known to occasionally help themselves to frogs, mice and even rats, it’s very unusual for these plants to go for birds, but this time the evidence was caught on camera. The plant’s owner, Nigel Hewitt-Cooper, has won prizes for his Venus fly traps, pitcher plants and other flowerbed thugs
