3. It’s a dirty job
A cesspit underneath the Italian town of Naples contains hundreds of bags of dried out excrement, which is providing lots of info about everyday life in ancient Rome. Luckily for the international team of archaeologists studying it the largest ever collection of human waste found is no longer stinky. Ten tonnes have been excavated revealing everything from pottery to nuts and seeds. It has given insight into the diet of people at that time, which is said to have been very healthy by today’s standards
