10. Solar flares
If you want to see some activity from the sun, you don’t have long to wait. There is a Solar Maximum coming up, the point when the Sun produces its biggest flares during an 11-year cycle. But if you’re looking for a really big explosion, then you will have to wait around five billion years. Even then it won’t actually blow up like a supernova because the Sun isn’t big enough to do it. But it will expand until it consumes the Earth before collapsing into a white dwarf. Bye...
