Americans are obsessed with teeth and not just their own. In The Simpsons, the dentist shows Lisa The Book of British Teeth to convince her she should wear a brace and not turn out like the hideous freaks in the UK. US citizens spend $50bn a year on dental work in an attempt to get perfect straight teeth that glow white. Yet, almost all Americans will have at least one cavity by the age of 17, partly because they down two cans of acidic fizzy drink a day.
