9. Sick devil
Since the late 90s, a contagious facial cancer has decimated the exclusively Australian, Tasmanian devil populations, by as much as 90% in some parts. Devil Facial Tumour Disease affects devils in over 60% of Tasmania. Passed on through biting and scratching, infected animals are unable to eat, drink or breathe, and die within months.
