Huawei Ascend G 300 Grab it all
What does it do? Just about everything a high-end Android smartphone does, at a fraction of the price. With a 1GHz processor with 512MB memory, 5MP camera and 800x480 10cm screen, this phone is bursting with spec. It currently runs Android Gingerbread 2.3.6, but will update later this year to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. If you’re looking for a smartphone on a shoestring, this is very hard to beat on paper.
What’s it like to use? Excellent, apart from one serious issue. Battery life is great, the big screen is beautiful to use (although there was some lag and inconsistency using the capacitive touch buttons below it), apps run nice and fast… it’s a good smartphone at a great price. But it’s too quiet. For video, music or even simply hearing calls coming in, the onboard speakers are too tinny, with fingers easily blocking the speaker ports too.
