Phone on fire Huawei Blaze

What does it do? A hell of a lot. Huawei may not be big over here yet, but it’s massive globally and this budget Android smartphone makes a big noise. The Blaze features a 3.2-inch, 320 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, Android 2.3 OS and comes with Bluetooth, wi-fi and high-speed mobile Internet. A 3.2MP camera tops off a cracking spec list.

What’s it like to use? It feels like a £200 phone and delivers way more than you should expect. It’s smart and easy to use, and it’s only when you stack it up against the likes of the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy SII or HTC range that you’ll find any faults. The camera can’t match pricier rivals and the processor struggles with the fastest games (thankfully, Angry Birds is fine). It can lag a little when switching apps, but again that’s against phones that cost three times as much. We’re sold.

Flipside says: Stunning spec and performance on a budget. It’s like Barnet signing Wayne Rooney.

Cost: £100
