Lara Croft is future Queen of England?
| 04 July 2012
Imagine the future Queen of England leaping from ledge to ledge, blazing down the bad guys with duel-wield pistols and scaling impossibly high cliff walls just to… pull a lever. All this, and more, will be coming to a console near you… sort of.
The new face of the Tomb Raider games has been revealed! The lucky lady all set to slip into the brilliantly tight vest and extra-short shorts of Lara Croft is none other than Camilla Luddington, the English actress most recognisable from her role as Kate Middleton in the Royal drama William & Kate.
Camilla is walking in famous footsteps, most notably of Angelina Jolie who played Ms Croft in the films and TV ‘personality’ Nell McAndrew who shot to stardom playing Lara in the late 90s.
What makes the latest incarnation all the more interesting is that the new actress will be providing all the motion capture and voice acting for the in-game character. This is a first for the series as normally it’s either one or the other, and this can only be a positive as it makes the on-screen character look all the more realistic if the movements naturally fit the voice patterns.
As for the game itself, the latest Tomb Raider game looks set to have a much grittier look and feel, tracing the origins of Lara Craft back to her beginnings – being shipwrecked on a deserted beach with only her physical capabilities and cunning instincts to help her survive on a hostile island. So, expect lots of climbing, some impossible leaps and the plenty of hand to hand combat.
And when will we finally get our hands on the new Tomb Raider? Not until March 5 2013. Plenty of time for the new Lara to learn how to hang from a cliff edge, one-handed, while looking smoking hot at the same time.
